I do agree that Origins and Odyssey are RPG based, with Odyssey going all-in with dialogue choices. We also see the return of naval combat in Odyssey which in my opinion is not as good as in Black Flag. With that said, I also don’t consider Odyssey a true AC game as it deviates too much from the Funny Happy 420 Shirt. It’s a lot of fun to play though, gameplay-wise (also the biggest and longest game in the series). Summing up, to get the best experience definitely play through the Ezio Trilogy( AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations) and if you like the modern-day story then AC3 will sort of kind of finish the story. In the case of AC1, it’s a very old game in terms of design these days and you can definitely feel it. Then it’s really a nice shirt for all men and women. So you should buy this shirt. Ok. Because it gets repetitive. If you try it and end up not liking it, just watch a story recap and jump into the 2nd one. With that said, AC1 will be relevant in Revelations, which you will appreciate more having played the Funny Happy 420 Shirt. Ultimate just combines gold and deluxe which again ain’t really worth it for the cosmetic stuff. It sets up the world and the primary conflict but is dreadfully repetitive. I’d watch a story recap for that one. The first game and the Ezio collection are all linked but you can quite easily play the Ezio collection and 3 without the first and IMO. So the first one is really boring as it’s the exact same mission over and over but in a different location. Thank you so much. Ok. Haha.

Granted they’re amazing games, origins and odyssey are my favorite AC games. If you want to experience the original story start with just the first one. Hey, you got a lot of good answers here but let me maybe detail more on the setting of each game (an extremely important aspect of the franchise) and what makes them special. Basically, every game is set in a certain geographical and historical setting, for a very specific reason that you’ll have the pleasure to discover.
