He used to be my best friend but when he got dementia when I was 12 I didn’t understand what was happening and started resenting him because I was so sad/angry that he wasn’t my best friend anymore.

I didn’t understand what was happening and barely visited him in the hospital; when he passed a couple of years later. I started to understand what happened and I felt so horrible.
